Shade of Aran, I was told how to deal with it. Fire = DON'T MOVE!!! Blizzard = Run around the room clockwise away from it. Arcane explosion = RUN TO THE EDGE!!! (more of a walk do to the mass slow, but still.) When the elementals come blow the hell out of them, rogues staying on Shade to kick his spells.
This tactic SHOULD have worked fine...it didn't. 4 wipes before we called it, we weren't happy about that. After the majority of the group had hearthed or ported my priesty type friend (recently converted to Shadow, "for the good of the guild." He started shadow, I figured he'd end up back there eventually.) and I were talking and we think we figured out the problem. The warlock in the group was totally under-performing. I mean, she was like 300 DPS below me, and I was 4th in DPS for the run. (Hunter that does PvP, Mage and my priesty friend were higher than me, but they heavily out-gear me.)
According to my DPS meter (which was reset before the Shade fight), she was the lowest of all the DPS classes. According to said priesty friend's DPS meter (record of the entire run), her DPS was lower than our TANKS!!! That's just sick and twisted. When in the history of being a warlock have they ever not been able to out-dps a full tank? I was rather disgusted when I heard this, and immediately vented to one of my hunter-friends (Who is basically on the same page as me progression-wise, but does the PvP thing so she could probably kick my ass) and yup, definitely bad news, she agreed with me.
Anyways, we're taking another crack at it tonight, the majority of the group had dealt with this guy before so they're not too worried about it. Here's to hoping ;) Especially on the loot end for this hunter, that remarkably ugly helm would totally make my day (too many rogues in the group to get my hopes up for the cloak or necklace)
Good Hunting,
Tox

As to your lock concerns, Aran isn't a terribly easy fight for a lock to dps. It really depends on their build. If your guild is in Kara, your lock should probably be a heavy affliction build to be able to do decent damage. If that's the case, just look what dot's are on the mob. UA (unstable affliction), CoA (Curse of Agony) or CoD (Curse of Doom), and Corruption should always be on the mob from the lock. After applying those dot's, your lock should be Shadowbolting and refreshing dot's when they expire. It's not terribly hard, but having a dot timer (ClassTimer is good) is really helpful.
Good luck with Aran.
