Tales of Roguedom: Discovery

The day was passing by in the usual fashion, running around the Isle doing petty chores for financial gain. No other reason to do them now adays, just saving up for a time when I'll really need it.

But there was something different about that day...I'm not sure how I knew, I could just feel it.

I began to discuss it with my close druid friend, Velvet, who had also felt the disturbance. From that conversation we determined that there had been a shift in the great dream, one subtle enough to avoid worldwide panic, yet strong enough for one such as I, a rogue, to feel. Granted, I have spent a lot of time in the wilds alone with my thoughts, and I've gotten to know a few of the technical details of some basic druidic techniques...and as a night elf I have an inherent connection to the wilderness I inhabit.

After coming to that conclusion we began to attempt deciphering where it came from and why. Naturally we started at the source of our concerns, The Emerald Dream, the shifting plane that represents how Kalimdor would have existed without the introduction of magic. Although neither of us could actually traverse the great dream, we contacted those who had previously done so, such as the great and powerful druids that train both the very young and the highly experienced.

They too had noticed the shift, though they were fairly astonished to discover that I had also noticed it. After we wiped the looks of shock from their faces, they told us where to look for the cause.

Ashenvale, such a place is but a mere triffle for Velvet and I. But we were not in pursuite of a quest or enemy, we were looking for a person of great potential, and due to the nature of the disturbance, it would have to be a druid.

We enlisted the aid of our resident hunter in order to track this person down more easily. Hunters have a way of stalking down just about anything that they put their mind to. Plus dwarves are hilarious. Seriously, just listen to them sometime, they're astonishingly amusing.

So off we went running about Ashenvale on a wild goose chase, just following Tox around hoping he's got some inclination of what he was doing. Apparently druid tracks are some of the easiest to follow due to their habit of shifting between beast and humanoid form. Footprints that change between bear prints, cat prints and Night Elf prints have a tendancy to stand out from all the native prints of the forest.

Unfortunately, Ashenvale is a hotspot for the young druids. Our little party came across so many young druids that we had almost lost hope in finding the young prodigy. That is, until we stumbled upon a young blue cat running around Forest Song and Felfire Hill, slaying demons and doing quests for the alliance encampment there. There was something...odd about her. She seemed to know more than any druid of her age should. She was more "in touch" with her surroundings, faster, stronger, more at peace within herself because of it.

Being a rogue, observing her in action was a simple task. She was undeniably the one we were looking for. Even Tox noticed something unusual about the way she acted...as though she were a self taught druid. There have been very few of those from what I've been told, and those that manage to over come that diversity are also some of the greatest druids on record.

When she was on her way back to Forest Song we approached her. Generally speaking, someone who's fairly new to the World are rather awe-struck when a group of well known/powerful people come up and start talking to them. No difference in that this time around. She just stopped and stared while we introduced ourselves.

We began to explain the situation, there was a lot of nodding and "Mmhmm"ing on her end, but eventually we got a name out of her. She called herself Adeata, and as far as we could tell she had no worldly ties and an intense love of nature...as most druids do. There were many different discussions and stories told during the night in the woods that followed, and in the morning it had been decided that Adeata was to be part of The Toxnation. Nothing formal, just a pact between friends and a promise to aid each other when asked.

And from that point forward she was part of the team. There shall be other tales, but for now I end this here. Let's see how well she fares in the future...
